Did this twice.  Sucess!

I climbed this mountain twice as part of Ranger Class 02-07 and 03-07. Spent the night and had mass near the Summit. I need to go back and hike it without BDU's, a 90lb ruck sack, and RI's yelling "hurry up Ranger!"

Two Man Party Orange  Sucess!

Finally able to make the top after getting rained off of the face a few times. Led the bolted orange route and hiked up to the summit clearing. Did somebody steal the summit marker?

From Hwy 75 to Summit  Sucess!

Interesting mountain to summit. One minute your hiking along on a quiet dirt road ... next minute wild turkeys run by you ... next minute you are in a GI Joe camp. Pretty cool helicopter landing pad on summit for the US military. Made it to the summit alone ... pretty rainy that day w/ no views. I'll be back. Real close to Helen, GA. Good little peak w/ vertical gain for being in the South.

Route Climbed: Multiple Date Climbed: April 2005  Sucess!

The Main Wall has great 5.4-5.8 climbs. Some of the routes can be made harder by looking for harder moves. Good protection and friction climbing. The hike in is a good warmup. Would like to see what it's like with ice!

Route Climbed: Many  Sucess!

The hike up to Yonah is a little over two miles with a vertical gain of 2000 ft. Yonah is a great place to introduce people to rock climbing. Many moderate routes that protect easily. There is also a selection of easy to hard sport routes. We try to make it to Yohan once a month or so. There is a gate down at the main road that restricts entrance to those who live on the road up to Yonah. This helps keep traffic down on the mountain and keeps out the local yahoo's. You may find yourself all alone, climbing one of the many routes leading to the summit, with great views of the N. Georgia mountains spread out in front of you.

Route Climbed: Hwy 75 Dirt Parking Lot to Summit on Yonah Mtn Road Date Climbed: October 8, 2003  Sucess!

Great day in the clouds. Had the whole mountain to myself. Parked down at the Hwy (Hwy 75) in the dirt parking lot and walked/ran the whole way up to the grass area on top (Upper Landing Zone) in just over 50 minutes. Tons of clouds & no view. Stayed at the top for a few minutes for water and ran down to the Hwy in 31 minutes. Normally I would've taken my time & enjoyed the views - but w/ the heavy clouds - I used it as a training session.

Route Climbed: Army route #2 (I think) Date Climbed: feb 1, 2003  Sucess!

This was my first "real" climbing trip and it was nothing short of the time of my life. Marc and Virginia were nice enough to take my girlfriend, Crystal, and I up and show us around the mountain. When we first got there the rock was extremely wet but dried as the day went on. We toped out but on our rappel our ropes got hopelessly tangled on the way down. We had to walk down the trail to the base of the rock face in our climbing shoes to retreive our gear. We ended up having to walk the road back to our cars in the dark which gave us an amazing view of the towns around the mountain all lit up. Also since the sky was clear all of the stars were out. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

This was my very first climb! The experience was nothing short of incredible! I am well on my way to becoming an addict. I would recommend Yonah to any first timers.
