| ...but beautiful. I like to go in spring, fall, and winter and generally avoid summertime because of the crowds. My first visit was in August 1998 and I have been back many times since. My favorite hike is Nevada/Vernal Falls. I hope to do Half Dome someday. | ||

| jaygeekray | Mist Trail Hike ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 11, 2005 | |
| Family hiked the Mist Trail to the top of Vernal Falls. We decided to get back to the valley and raft the frigid waters of the Merced rather than continue up to Nevada Falls. The expression on my 10 yr old daughter's face as she jumped off the bridge into the river told me that we made the correct decision. | ||

| forjan | Central Pillar of Frenzy Date Climbed: Jun 3, 2006 | |
| Climbed the first 5 pitches of the Central Pillar of Frenzy in Middle Cathedral as a party of 3 on Saturday, June 3, 2006: Javier Gonzalez, Dan and I. On Sunday June 4, 2006, climbed the first two pitches of Nutcracker and rapped off as there were too many parties above climbing and too many parties waiting at the big ledge on top of P2. Previously, climbed in 2005: Variation on a Theme, Harry Daley Route, Church Bowl Lieback, The Center Grack. | ||

| This was the date of my first valley hike, the Pohono Trail. Later, I completed the following hikes beginning or ending in Yosemite Valley - Four Mile Trail; Panorama Trail; Mist Trail; Upper Yosemite Falls Trail; Sierra Point; Cloud's Rest; Merced River Canyon from Merced Lake. I also tried scrambling to the brink of Lower Yosemite Falls, but turned around when I encountered this fellow. | ||

| It fely hot and long. Unbelievably, we saw many people still going up in the hottest part of the day around 2 pm with no water. I think people underestimate how long this trail and how much elevation is gained. Soem great views over the waterfall and down the valley. very worthwhile hike. Start in the early AM and bring water! | ||

| Bunnyhiker | Route Climbed: Yosemite Falls - right side scramble route. Date Climbed: 5 June, 2005 ![]() | |
| Fine scramble that never pushed over a hiker's Class 3. Route as described, the only trick was the (very steep) Class 3 coming off the bench which turned out to be only slightly more difficult than climbing a ladder. There is also a ducked route about 100 yards east which is more interesting and a bit harder. We went up to the base of the wall below Lost Arrow Spire. | ||

| I normally avoid the Valley because of the crowds and the probability of being hassled for rogue camping overnight, but it's a nice place in spring. Scrambled/climbed here a few times--to Sierra Point, up Tenaya Canyon to Tenaya Lake, up the Slabs route to the Diving Board and back down LeConte Gully, up KP Pinnacle, led Sunnyside Bench (Regular Route) as my first multi-pitch lead, led Aunt Fanny's Pantry (another beginner climb) the next day, and top roped/followed some routes at Swan Slab a couple of times. | ||

| Climbed these two fun routes with my brother Steve on a perfect sunny November day - great views of snow-covered Half Dome and partially frozen Yosemite Falls. It was strange to be rock climbing the day after a snow & freezing rain storm in the valley! | ||
