"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Captain OverconfidentA beautiful rock and view. However, I was so hyped about getting off the plane in Reno and hiking that I did not consult this excellent write-up, and as a result did some seriously bad bushwacking, and briefly lost track of my wife. A good reminder to take any mountain seriously..

DayhikeAfter a fun day snowboarding we decided the snow was a little light to enjoy another. Instead I got up early and headed for the east side of the lake. Upon arrival I found more snow than I expected but went for it anyway in standard boots. Was a fun short little hike to what I thought was going to be a spicy class 3 attempt on some icy boulders. I kept searching and found a tame class 3 route up. Wonderful views from the east side and a fun little summit block.

EasyThere's a good trail for 80% of the hike, just the due east part of the approach is easy cross country. It was so easy I questioned if I was really at the right rock, it was basic class 2 with only the final bit being anything resembling class 3.
