HP #14
This was our 14th Highpoint and the second one on this trip which included five more. It was bit cloudy on top so did not see a whole lot. Might have to visit this one again.

Clouds and fog passing through so couldn't see more than a few feet in front of me at the top. Was getting dark so had to make a hasty "summit!"

Larvitour Stop #7
Drove up from Newfound Gap and walked the paved trail to the summit. Lots of slick slush on the ground... and on the observation tower, which they don't clear. Even though it was overcast, the visibility was good from the top. I didn't stick around long, though; the winds were biting.

Sunrise...not so much
Woke up really early to try to see the sunrise...it was cloudy but atleast got the highpoint
Stumbled around on the top underneath the observation tower looking for the actual summit marker, but there seemed to be only a rock cairn at the top. State HP #31

HP# 28
We were prepared to hike in from Newfound Gap Road since it wasn't scheduled to open until April 1st. They had opened the road the day we were there, so we drove in like everyone else. Too many people on the paved trail to the top, fat kids wearing flip flops, etc.

Great first hike for our High Point Hike series. Enjoyed hiking with Nasser, my nature lover son, Caleb, and Dana. Good conversations (when we could catch our breaths), good food, and especially good to be in the beautiful Smoky Mountains!

Secret Parking!
Found an access to the AT about 3 miles north of the peak and parked the car in a little clearing off the road for a great little 6 mile hike to the summit on the AT.

First of 2 HP today
Moving from Greeneville to Raliegh, I went way out of the way to hit Tennessee and Kentucky HP. I looked for a long time for the USGS monument, but all I could find was one about a half mile down the trail by the gift shop. The ranger said the summit one may have had concrete poured over it during construction of the wonderful spaceship-like observation tower. Unfortunately, foggy again. Off to Kentucky!

First time since I was a toddler!
This was the end of a 10 mile day AT NoBo. Couldn't see a darn thing due to clouds, but it was funny to emerge all dirty from the woods into a crowd of shivering tourists. First visit since 1976!

"Climbed" it on the paved path. But it was a steep paved path, I wouldn't recommend it in a wheelchair.

the hike of Creek Crossings
Hiked up from the Forney Creek trailhead off of Lakeview Drive, took us approximately 7 hours to the top at a comfortable pace, stopping to eat lunch and dropping off overnight gear at camp 70. Mileage to the top via Whiteoak Branch Trail was approximately 15miles. We then descended back down to our camp, crossing the creek multiple times in the dark after sunset, which was exhilarating as we attempted to stay dry. Finished the day off at about 24miles and 12hrs of hiking. Net elevation gain was 6500', which came much easier than the miles because the trail was gradual. Trailhead to summit to trailhead was 31miles and 8000' vertical.
