From Horse Meadow
Camped at Horse Meadow and hiked up to the pass between Job's sister and Job's. Ascended Job's Sister via South Face then traversed over to Freel. Dropped (scree ski) down Free's south face back to car.

The day the fire broke out
Bagged both Freel and Job's Sister with hgrapid. Decided to drive back to Reno via SLT and found to our surprise a large fire had started. Great hike, awesome views. My 2nd Tahoe 10,000er.

Tahoe Triple Crown
Day hiked the Tahoe Triple Crown from the south. It was very windy and cold, but we missed the first winter storm by a week. A light dusting of snow and high winds made for some spectacular spin-drifts along the ridge.

Lake Tahoe
The views of the Lake Tahoe basin are spectacular from Freel. Why someone would not want to live around this great lake is beyond me.

Very Windy
My second time to the top. This time I had company with me. It was very windy for most of the hike up, so we decided against Job's Sister. Maybe next time.

Tahoe Triple Crown
Did a day hike to bag Tahoe Triple Crown - Freel Peak (10,881 ft, the highest of the Tahoe peaks), Jobs Sister (second-highest, at 10,823 ft), and Jobs Peak (fourth-highest, at 10,673 ft).

Trout Creek Trail
Beautiful hike, though the trail was muddy. Lots of mountain bikers out and about. Some insect problems.

Freel, Job's & Job's sis day hike.
I parked my car at the little wooden bridge near the south slope and took the Tahoe rim trail towards Star Lake, summiting Freel in exactly 1.5 hours. Saw a large black bear who was coming down from near the summit of Job's sis. Took the south trail down from Job's and arrived back at my car in 4.5 hours.

Trout Creek is Evil
Though fairly short for the actual elevation attained the Trout Creek route takes an evil approach to Freel offering steep sand for better than half the distance to the rim trail which I attained about 50 yards short of the Freel use trail. The final mile of use trail was amazing quality with rock steps and cairns to guide you along, I give a huge high five to the parties who built it! Took me about 2:45 to get to the top. Kinda let down by the volume of people at the top, I think there were 6 or 7, but well worth the adventure. Met a guy on top who after some discussion decided my way up would be worth trying for the decent (he went up to armstrong and across from Oneidas). As expected the downtrip was fast taking only 1:30 from the top back to the parking area. I suggest to others to follow Cass' route up to armstrong and down via trout, it seems to make for a better loop.

South Side Route
Enjoyed a nice training climb up the south (sandy) side route. Views were fantastic! Made the traverse over to Job's Sister as well. Awesome Day!
After some muddy confusion finding the right trail at the gate (I just had to go straight down the dirt road), I made it up the alternately brushy and sandy use trail and up the northwest slope. Then a quick excursion to Jobs Sister and I was back.

winter ascent
A long day. My cousin Tyler and I snowshoed in from hwy 89 above hope valley. I am sure there are shorter routes in winter but what the hell. Great views! Soon after we reached the top some guy came up on his snow mobile to about 200 ft. below the summit and walked up to enjoy the view. The thought crossed my mind of bum rushing him and stealing his snow mobile to avoid the long slog back but before I knew it he was gone. Oh well!

Freel is free of snow
Reached Freel in 2hrs 45minutes from the car parked at 8200 feet. Took the Armstrong Pass route. The route was free of snow. The route up the last mile is now well-laid out with cairns and a clear use trail. Hiked Jobs Sister afterwards.

Awesome mountain. It's my tallest climb so far. On the ascent I got slowed down by the sand. But on the way down it was a big help. Next time I will start earlier so I can get Job's Sister and Job's Peak.

south side routh
With my son. Unfortunately my son got a touch of altitude sickness and we had to turn around 600 feet short of the summit. He was fine on Lassen the day before. Probably a good thing that we didn't continue as I bonked harder than I ever have before on the way down. Could hardly put one foot in front of the other when the trail headed up. Should have done Round Top instead. Oh well, next year, and we will bring bikes!

A lot of bushwhacking....had the trail and summit all to ourselves: Me, my buddy and his 9 year old grandson.
