Great way to spend National Chocolate Cake Day
Nice weather. Hiked in my winter boots up to the push up Jesse's Peak, and then put on snow spikes.

Dayhike
Took my brother-in-law out for his first Tahoe peak. Easy hike up from the meadows. Mostly TRT then off trail towards the end. We headed up the boulders and then down the south side for a sandy descent. The peak was covered in Mountain Hemlock and the chickadees completely ignored my breadcrumbs. Best views are just below the peak area.

Tahoe Meadows & Chickadee Ridge
Jessie's Peak summit via Tahoe Meadows and Chickadee Ridge. Party of 4, 1.6 miles and about 1 hr 25 min to the summit with lots of stops to feed and take pictures with the birds. 750 ft elevation gain. Some cloud coverage at the start and fairly windy at the top.

Beautiful Views
Took the short trip to the summit on snowshoes, and enjoyed the great views all the way.

Muahaha
Marched the TMCC students up this guy from Ophir Creek for an outdoor wilderness survival class. Great snow year for the region.

snowboard descent
Me and a friend used split-boards to summit the peak. We walked through the meadows for only about a 1/4 mile and then skinned up and over a small gully to a col only about 180-200 from the summit, there was a beautiful open bowl that led to open trees with expansive views of the valley over 4000 ft below. We descended the NNE slope on our boards down into Ophir Creek Canyon and then skinned back up the canyon and through the meadows to the vehicle. Very easy quick trip considering the quality of skiing and views.

Cloudy day
I took the boardwalk route to the summit. I took the Ophir Creek Trail on the way back. It was cloudy, but views were pretty nice. It was pretty warm, but large patches of snow remained throughout the forest. The final stretch to the summit had little snow.
