Normal route
As part of a week long Alpine Course we climbed the Pigne. Practiced several techniques on the way down, such as crevasse rescue, emergency brakes in case of slippage on a snowfield and rappeling down the mountain

Normal route
From Cabane des Dix
Cloudy, foggy and snowing, 7 a 10 cm fresh snow from the day and night before.
Sunny and clear sky when on top
Climbed it twice, as part of the traverse in 2005 and as part of the course. Good training ground for the beginner alpinist.
The traverse went on to the summit of the pleureur. After some snow this was really a beautifull route.

ski route
bad weather the whole morning at Cabane des Dix. But all parties head for the mountains, only we lazy four Swabians decided for a rest day and started at 3 pm for a little walk with ski. But the track was fine, we gained height quickly and as soon as we reached the summit, clouds lifted and vanished within some minutes. A very fine downhill through fresh powder snow awaited us, just in front of the jealous eyes of the dozens of climbers that had started too early that morning... One of my nicest memories of mountains of all times!
