Take Me To The River

Take Me To The River

Take me to the river - drop me in the water ... The biggest rapid on Arizona's Verde River is a Class IV, also known as Verde Falls. The water pours over an 8-foot basaltic ledge, where lava flows from a nearby volcano had effectively dammed the river somewhere between nine and ten million years ago. This is tough to reach on foot. You have to follow a very faint trail after traveling five miles on a very narrow and twisting 4x4 road. In December, land and wildlife management agencies enact a seasonal bald eagle (breeding) closure along the two mile section of river downstream of the falls. November 21, 2009

Re: Is...

Yep, this is the one. Actually, it's more
impressive in the Spring when more water is
comin' down.

One of my favorite rafting songs!

But I prefer the Annie Lennnox version from years ago. Many a time I sang that tune while canoeing or rafting. Either way it's a great tune!

Have a great Thanksgiving Larry!

P.S. This is a fantastic picture! I really like the colors and composition.

Re: One of my favorite rafting songs!

Thanks, K!

Posting photos (and links) on SP is kind of
like a "big celebration" with the family.

You throw a big hunk of meat out there, hoping Uncle Gilbert (or somebody) will
enjoy the intense aroma and texture of the
meat.

There exists several "versions" of everything
in life. We just hope that the family dog
doesn't latch on to that hunk of meat before
we do!

Have an outstanding T-Day, Kathy !!!
