Excellent lighting ..How did you get the lighting to look like that?
Was the sun at your back ?

Re: Excellent lighting ..The sun clearly came from the left front, so was it fill in flash? (Would have to be pretty strong, though.)

Re: Excellent lighting ..So, it HAD to be a DSLR camera in order to
obtain this "flash fill effect," RIGHT?
I plan to upgrade my camera, but only after the
gas prices go back down ..

ThanksThe lighting is natural with no fill flash. The tree shadow indicates the sun location left and slightly backlit. I was in the shade and there was a clearing behind in full sun around 10:30 AM. The light was filtered through the trees some. Lucky shot I guess. I almost walked by these two guys but my son yelled for me to stop.
The Nikon D700 has very good dynamic range (auto D-lighting setting). The lens is a 28-300 Nikon zoom f3.5 to f5.6 . I use exposure compensation for every shot. Modern light meters still need a lot of help to get the right exposure. This was shot at ISO 800, 1/160, F8, -0.3 ev.
