Nice TR. And you did it in style without a guide. The guided American who couldn't remember the summit, so typical when you go too fast.

Fifty years later.

I enjoyed reading your account of climbing the Matterhorn almost fifty years after I did it. It brought back a stream of memories of the climb I made on August 3, 1955. Your weather was better than the weather I encountered. However I did it in just one day and got back to Zermatt just after dark. The Hornli ridge was less crowded back then and the guide's fee was only forty dollars. You can read about it in the summit register.
