A Long Overdue Trip
In the past dozen years I have probably made 20 trips to Great Smoky Mountains National Park but I never managed to make it to the Big Creek and Cosby areas. That came to end the first weekend in May (2009) with a two day trip to the area.
On Saturday we hiked to Mt. Sterling via a 17 mile loop route Big Creek/Baxter Creek Loop
. Our plan on Sunday was to climb Mt. Cammerer, but with heavy rains and the ridgelines socked in with clouds we settled on a short hike to Hen Wallow Falls from the Cosby area.
