Above the Shoulder

Above the Shoulder

The view from the lower reaches of the Bottleneck Couloir looking down "The Shoulder" at 8100m (26,575ft). The tents of Camp 4, the site of the famous 1986 disaster, can be seen below at the edge of the Shoulder. This is one of the last pictures of Stefano Zavka before he died. This is the first I have seen this shot -it captures the fierceness of the mountain. Quite gripping.
