I think the biggest appeal of this climb for me was the fact that it IS relatively obscure - I'd bet most climbers in Oregon have not heard of this formation.
thanks for stopping by and a good vote. The Peregrine Traverse route we did is a very mellow but quite nice little ridge traverse in a place that is not really well known by even many Oregon climbers (probably the biggest appeal of this formation in my book).
...yeah, it's even MORE mellow than we expected going there....10 pitches, 5.7 sounded like a nice 1/2 day climb (the guidebook actually mistakenly quotes the route as being 12P)...In reality, it's very softly rated with much terrain being 3rd-4th class. Done in about 3 hours. Should've done this one earlier in the climbing career.
I looked at the header picture and I just couldn't see how that little rock exposure could have a 10-pitch route on it. Then you put up that annotated photo...
Yeah....I'll try to get around to looking up topo coord's. The route might be 10 pitches long and rated 5.7acc. to guidebook....in actuality the pitches are short (all <100') and there MIGHT be 2 5.7 moves on the whole thing....probably not. Mostly a scramble.
....still, blue skies and no people overshadowed all that.
Yeah, you know...Oregon. Still not that bad actually - the route has seen enough traffic so that even if some sections LOOK dirty and loose, they're really not that bad (but it ain't no L-worth :)
I hate you because you did the Peregrine Traverse before me. Stupid people who hogged the route that day I was there, oh so long before you were. A pox on you! A pox I say!
(nice job on completing this one, would love to get beta from you sometime)

Fun, obscure little formation in the backwoods of Oregon Cascades....you should check it out when in the area.
