Aerial View of Glacier Peak

Aerial photo of the west side of Glacier Peak. Frostbite Ridge is the left skyline. I took this photo from the cockpit of my Navy EA-6B Prowler jet aircraft.

your Prowler?

Nice shot, am surprised the DOD lets you post photos taken while on the job.

From a taxpayer's standpoint I'm thinking it's as much my jet as yours, what are the chances of a ride-along?

Nice Ariel shot!

I would love to fly over Glacier Peak one of these days.

Glacier Peak Jets

Used to sit on Miners Ridge and watch the Navy jets fly up the Suiattle River. They were just above the tree tops 3000' below, heading east. They'd rise up with the terrain and clear a green saddle by what looked like 50'. I think on the other side of the saddle was Lyman lake.

Sometimes you'd be hiking along the Suiattle River trail in complete peace and suddenly, without warning, one of the jets would pass directly overhead just above the tree tops with a deafening roar.

Sometimes they would pass overhead fairly slowly and then a little while later they'd pass again at high speed. I was guessing that the first pass was to map the terrain and the second pass was computer controlled but that was just my guess.
