Ahern Peak NE summit view

Ahern Peak NE summit view

Perhaps the most impressive view from the top of Ahern Peak is to the northeast. The east face is STEEP - from this point it's some 3,700 down to beautiful Helen Lake. The entire expanse of the Ptarmigan-Iceberg Wall is visible high above the opposite shore of Helen Lake - in this photo, the B-7 Pillar is just in frame on the extreme right of the wall. Far off in the distance, Elizabeth Lake sits below and to the left of the red bulk of Seward Mountain, with the multiple summits of Gable Mountain rising directly behind. August 9, 2010

Sorry to hear that! Photos of the mudslides were quite impressive.
