Hike With Wife  Sucess!

Kenna and I made our way to this one along the Continental Divide Trail from Wolf Creek Pass. I carried our littlest in the pack, and it was a smooth trail all the way to the top. Little bit of rock hopping at the end (fun with the pack on), but short and easy. Beautiful views and nice mix of terrain. Really enjoyed it!

Second try a success  Sucess!

A friend and I tried Alberta in 2020 but halted just below the summit block due to a cold gale that was actually blowing us and other hikers off our feet. No such problem this time, with pleasant temperatures and a mild breeze. Others who summited about the same time included a fish and wildlife expert from North Carolina and a couple from Flagstaff who came north to escape the wildfire smoke in Arizona. Alberta is an excellent half-day hike that affords sweeping views of the San Juans.

Lower but nice  Sucess!

For a peak with a ski area on it this one was nice. I needed something short because the weather was iffy today but the views are excellent for its height. Seventy five minute hike. I spent some time at the summit expanding the rock shelter before heading down.

Nice hike and views  Sucess!

Nice quick AM hike with dubious weather and lingering slush.

Fantastic Views  Sucess!

Honestly I was a bit skeptical about this hike because of the proximity to US 160 and the ski area. But it turned out to be a fun hike with interesting stuff along the way (a rock glacier, alpine meadows, and a trail that hugged a cliff-top). But the best part were the views from the summit. Superb! A great way to spend a couple hours. I took my son with me too!
