Longs Peak Keyhole Route

This album is a personal collection of my photos from my three attempts to climb Longs Peak (two successful). It is primarily for organizational purposes for my Trip Report Curing My Summit Fever . As with many people, Longs Peak is very special to me. It was the first mountain I ever seriously considered climbing.

For the aspiring first timer to Longs, all of these pictures are from The Keyhole Route and hopefully I included enough information to help in your research. (Any comments related to the exposure on this route are purely my own personal bias.) There is plenty of information available on Longs Peak, and the SP Mountain Page is a wonderful resource.

Private attach only please.

Nice work

Having been up Long's Peak 5 times via the Keyhole, attempted Keplinger's and The Trough once each and more times to Chasm Lake/Boulderfield than I can remember, you've got some great pictures of an equally great mountain in this album.
Some of these really make me miss the Estes Valley.
Nice work!!!!!

Re: Nice work

Thanks for the nice comments. Longs is a great mountain, and it's amazing how many people are inspired by it.

I'm planning on taking a year off from RMNP for this years July trip. Hoping to hit Mount of the Holy Cross (Halo Ridge) and Snowmass - splitting the trip up between Holy Cross Wilderness and Maroon Bells Wilderness. Any recommendations for a flatlander like myself are always welcome.

Happy Trails,
Mark

Thanks Mark

Thanks Mark for this album as it is always great to see another perspective of pic of Longs Peak, and relive the experience. I have to send this along to my climbers/best friends so they can relive this. One pic I regret not taking is of the Chokestone at the top of The Trough, as we were all so wiped, it seems nobody gets that shot. It's hard to remember at every pause (and The Trough makes everyone pause) when you have a window shot at the summit.

Re: Thanks Mark

Glad you enjoyed it. I do plan on getting back to Longs - probably in 3 years for my 50th birthday. Would like to try the Loft route!

My plans for this year are to head back to the Maroon Bells, and I intend on giving Snowmass a shot this time (I already have forewarned my hiking partners). I still have your PMs with your notes - you may hear from me again before August.

Happy Trails,
Mark

Thank you for your amazing pictures. I have a question since you have done Longs a few times. My moms ashes were scattered on top of longs and unfortuntaly I was not part of the journey. I would like to hike up to the top to pick up a stone, and I'm wondering what the difficulty might be. I'm a 55 year old women and am a fitness instructor. I'm very active in many sports. I'm originally from Colorado and have done a few 14ers in the past. My husband and daughter want to come as well. Any info you have to offer would be greatly appreciated .

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
