Alpine Sunflowers

Alpine Sunflowers

Alpine Sunflower is also known as 'Old Man of the Mountains' and it almost always faces the rising sun. I took this picture high on the slopes of Handies Peak not far from the summit. Summer in the San Juans, Colorado 2006.

Re: unbelievable

I planted them there ;) Just kidding. These are normal things in Colorado each July. There are big alpine meadows full of alpine sunflowers. It's awesome.
