Alpine Tank

Alpine Tank

While crossing the border between Austria and Germany we noticed that kind signs. Haven't got the idea about the meaning but looks really funny. (Will be used in TR soon). August 16, 2007.

Seen these plenty

The left side denotes on-coming traffic, soldier must slow down his "ride." Right side is clear shot speed with no on-coming traffic. Soldier may put the pedal to the metal. Still 70kph is a creeping 40mph, enough to tear up a road with trax though. }:)

Re: Seen these plenty

Thanks Deb!
That's what we thought but weren't sure. Never seen sign like that in Poland, Czech Rep or Austria (it doesn't mean that they don't exist:))
Another question: what tanks may do on this narrow mountain road?:)

Cheers

Re: Seen these plenty

Military vehicles use general population roads to access training areas...yes, it is horribly true; and believe me, the US Gubment pays PLENTY for manuever damage in Europe! Of course we don't give a shit what we mess up in Iraq. :)

Now I have to have a look a US Army tanks while driving to the Alps.:) Another thing that makes mountaneering dangerous.;)

Cheers.

You have no idea...

...about the meaning because you don't have tank driving license :)

Yep

But I'm working on it. My parents promised to buy me a small tank.

Re: Yep

Come to Budapest on 23/Oct - if they make the same mistakes as last year, and you bring a tank battery, you may drive away with a vintage one :D
