Dropped the east face (scary cornice!) and stayed in Castle Valley. Took the trail by storm on ski's (bobsledding anyone?) and made it to the car in 5 minutes flat after tagging and dropping Castle and Basin. Helluva day.
Saw this on the way back from Castle and figured what the hell.
Capping off a 7 peak summer day.
Pics are here.
Climbed with Castle and Basin
Hiked this from Castle Pass. Had spent the night in Round Valley as part of the Sierra Club snowcamping training series.
I took the Hole in the Ground Trail to get to the summit. On the way back, I explored some of the rock outcroppings at the south edge of the ridge. I put up a page for the Hole in the Ground Trail.
with squishy, missed the mark of Castle Peak. snow was deep but packed. great views of Castle Peak and the crags around it.
Snowshoe ascent. LOTS of people on the trail.
Tried out my snowshoes that I got for xmas for the first time. It went great, I made it to the summit in about 1 hour from the trailhead. Lots of people on the trail. I had the summit to myself except for two snowmobilers who arrived just as I left.

What Matthew said below. Trip Report
Climbed Castle, Basin, and Andesite with Bob. This is a very short diversion from Castle Pass, but there's an outstanding view of Castle Peak from the summit.
Wife and I tagged the top by climbing the ridge from Castle Pass. No tracks so we made our own in knee to thigh deep powder. Perfect day. Sunny, no clouds, light breeze, upper 30's to low 40's.
Tagged on the way to Castle; day-trip.
Ski ascent in winter...
Tagged Andesite on the way to the Peter Grub Hut.
Hiked up from Castle Pass with Devin (2½ yrs old) for his second peak. We had a blast.
