Splitboarded it!  Sucess!

Summited Andesite on a tour around Donner Summit. After chasing pow in Round Valley (success!), we tagged Andesite to set up our exit lap. Skis/split are the way to go for this peak.

Castle Peak Trailhead  Sucess!

Andesite Peak via Castle Valley and Castle Pass. Party of 2. 2.2 miles and about 1 hr 40 min to the summit. Weather was great with some cloud coverage and very mild winds, but still lots of snow on the ground and we left our snowshoes at the house. 950 ft elevation gain.

Great option  Sucess!

Climbed this peak in a raging snow storm with a group of five. Our original plan was to climb Red Lake Peak in Carson Pass. The weather was terrible, Hwy 88 was closed, and we wanted to get on top of something. Andesite peak turned out to be a great option that day.

Quiet  Sucess!

Planned to do Castle, but from the pass Andesite had way more snow and way less people (actually no people at all), plus I'd never been. It was nice and peaceful plus got to teach my girlfriend some self-arrest on the steep slushy snow.
