Whoa Wallowas  Sucess!

Still a lot of snow in the basin. Scramble to the top was a little harder than anticipated.

Another Great Wallowa Peak  Sucess!

We approached Aneroid from the East Fork Wallowa trail, camped in deep snow after getting a late start, and summited the peak in the afternoon of the second day. The meadow to the west/northwest of the peak offers a lot of prime camping real estate and it's not a problem to scramble up to the saddle just north of the summit from there. Unfortunately, we hit the saddle a bit too far north and spent a loooooong time (at least a mile) hiking along the ridge. Picturesque, for sure, but hardly efficient.

Route: Howard, East, Hidden, Aneroid, and Dollar Peak  Sucess!

Hiked Aneroid Mountain from the Mount Howard tram via East and Hidden Peaks on my way to Dollar Ridge. The tram's extended summer hours provided an earlier start than otherwise.

Tram? Of course!  Sucess!

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, so off to the Wallowas we went. When presented with the chance to take a tram for $26 a piece and cut 4000 vert I didn't hesitate. As far as I'm concerned cheating on a climb doesn't involve 10 miles and 3500 feet of total climbing. We hit Howard, East, Hidden, and Aneroid Mountains. Man that was fun to summit something and then think, "well we might as well hit that one too." The Wallowas are great.

Followed the Jones family to the summit of Aneroid so that Ken could claim a completion of the Oregon 2,000 ft Prominence Peaks. Bob and Caleb were there as well. Nice day, great group.

Route: Howard, East, Hidden, Aneroid, and Dollar Peak Traverse  Sucess!

Amazing views from the summit of Aneroid. Descended the west side of Dollar Peak and camped at the base of Pete's Point. Hit the summit of Pete's on the 16th and descended the E Fork Wallowa.

Finally!  Sucess!

End of a long day. Met a dog named Toby on the north slopes. He was cool. Was glad to get this one done as I was getting tired. Went down the south side and camped at Dollar Lake where I got to run around off leash. It was awesome but don't tell anyone.

End of a long day  Sucess!

After hitting Howard, East and Hidden, Flanders, Lunadog and I made the summit of Aneroid about 5 pm. Signed the summit register before descending the south side to camp at Dollar Lake. This peak dominates the eastern part of the Wallowas.

Piece of cake  Sucess!

Was concerned about reaching the summit and making it back to the tram in time with all the clouds rolling through, but made it back with an hour and half to spare. Oregon P2K #31.
07/31/10
Summited with the Ken Jones climbing family, Bob Bolton and Dennis Poulin. Ken completed Oregon P2K list with this hike, Bob completed earlier this year, and Dennis completed awhile back. Hiked in from Tenderfoot TH in the east.
09/02/2011
Summited with Larry Huff, his first time out here and my third time on the summit. Unlike last year I took the tram this time.
09/03/2016:
Summited with Chris Albertson, this was our third stop on the way to Petes Point. My 4th time up here, one of my favorite viewpoints in the Wallowas. I really enjoy the ridgewalk out to Aneroid, doesn't take a ton of effort but provides a nice experience to summit one of Oregon's highest peaks.

Howard traverse  Sucess!

My brother Pat and I did the traverse over East and Hidden Peaks to top of Aneroid. Then descended to Dollar Lake and camped for 3 nights. The descent with backpacks is hard on the feet. Update on tram costs - it is now $24.

From Mt. Howard  Sucess!

Took the tram up. Left at 10:50 from the tram station, bagging East and Hidden on the way. Summited Aneroid at 1:30, stayed until 2. Back down, traversed Hidden on the west and East on the east. Back to the tram at 4:15 with a sore knee thanks to losing the trail around the east side of East and having to sidehill for about half a mile, and 3 summits.

Route Climbed: West Ridge  Sucess!

Dry slog with sister to the top through lots of scree, but well worth the trip! Went down on the ridge connecting to Hidden Peak.
