Was able to beat the crowds by starting before 8:00. The hike was stunning and quite memorable, though it was nowhere near strenuous.
First people on top that day
Quick climb after a hiking the Narrows from top to bottom. Great views and fun scrambling. My first trip to Zion -- very memorable!
A bit overblown in most people's description of the difficulty, but a great time nonetheless - go early to avoid the majority of the crowds. :)
The concrete path was so weird. Then it transitions into sketchy hiking on the fin. Super fun tho I was happy I wore my approach shoes. :-)
Set up camp, then headed to Angels Landing for what ended up being quite fun after beginning on a concrete path.. Magnificent views, tons of people. Can see why it is so popular. Good start to a great time exploring Zion..
June 2015 Did Angels Landing and the Narrows. Great trip. Did the Narrows in about ten hours. The hike up Angels Landing was HOT.
March 2013 First time up Angels Landing. Icy, Scary. But ultimately successful in proposing to my wife. Memorable trip.
I've done angels landing many times. It's a beautiful hike.
Lots of people
11/13/15: Still lots of people
04/30/17: Once again. Can't get tired of this one. With a new friend, Sumit.
Surprising number of people slipping around on the snow and ice in street shoes. If that chain was not there it would be a disaster.
climbed angel's landing on the final day of the zion trip w/blyth. the top parts are awesomely airy, and slightly intimidating. love it up here!
End of the day, most folks were on their way down. Had the top to myself. Weather was perfect. Nearly missed the last shuttle!
Did this after a week of canyoneering. Thunder started as we were heading down.
#1 11-13-15 Parking was a problem. Started from Zion Lodge lot. Tons of people. Didn't much care for the asphalt trail but, oh well. Delightful summit area large enough for a small state funeral. Splendid weather. Met a cousin purely by chance whom I hadn't seen in years. My hiking partner was fabelhaft.
Beautiful lunch spot but way to many people for comfort. Didn't stay long.
Caught the 6 am shuttle from the visitor's center. One hour to the summit from the Grotto. The crowds were forming on my descent by 7:30 am.
Fun late-afternoon hike on a beautiful day. We started at 7PM we got up just in time to see the sunset. Back down by 9:30PM (still light. The final ascent is awesome, although I heard people slip and perish on that section.
try early or off-season to beat the crowds ...
Icy! Without the chains I would have been shot off a cliff.
Hiked with wife and 3mo old baby to the top of Angels landing. Our baby was the star of the hike. We continued along the West Rim trail afterwards for several miles. Slightly overcast and gorgeous day. Great way to spend our anniversary and great hike for baby's first summit. >.<
Only complaint was that I stashed my pack at Scouts lookout while going up to the peak. Squirrels/chipmunks chewed through my pack and ate our lunch. Luckily I had a few granola bars and one pack of peanut butter buried pretty far down under my rainjacket. Be warned - the rodents up there are VERY aggressive. They will go at great lengths to get food out of your pack. My fav. day-pack is now getting new zippers and a new mesh pocket from leaving my pack in what seemed a very conspicuous and populated area for less than one hour right before the "chains."
