Admittedlythis is a nightmare of mine. Since moving out to CA in July, I solo hike often in puma country and although very unlikely, I worry about ambush! Scary and good shot.

Re: AdmittedlyMore than likely they will avoid you even if they are around sometimes you will not know it . On the picture of mine you will see some one did a forum on mountain lions which is very informitive . They are the ones who feel ambushed not you. It is very wise when hiking in ares where a puma encunter can happen keep children very close to you. Look at the picture of the mountain lion and click on the article , you should be able to get some good information about them
