On the second attempt.
Did Meall Dearg and part of the traverse on 14/03/1985, only to end up descending northwards into Kinlochleven - not recomended!
Finally did the whole thing 2 years later in sparse winter condition. Also good in Summer!
What a day, walk in the dark, near top of Am Bodach when sun was up. Had clear skies as we went along the Pinnacles only for nearing Sgorr nam Fiannaidhe for it to get proper rough and white out conditions.
Descended towards the Pap, compasses froze so it was interesting!
Recommend this to anyone, great day out if you're prepared, An Teallach, Liathach and Crianlarich are meant to be the only others to compare! (beyond the mighty Cuilin of course!)

Finally! Great day, just a little hazy once the mist dissipated. Did the ridge and the walk back in 4.5 hrs. Look forward to a return trip in the future.

Wet and windy
Lost in fog the entire day. Apart from the initial descent down onto the ridge, climbing down on smooth wet rock, there were few real difficulties Although there are some technically harder sections and more up and down, on the whole I found this easier and less exposed than Crib Goch. Only managed to see the valley once or twice.
Beware the descent along the Clachlaig Gully. Easily the scariest part of the day.

Winter traverse
Traversed this fantastic ridge just after new year - the last time there was snow in Scotland the way it is at the moment. Temps went down to minus 27 close by the week we did it - and life camped down by the Clachaig was cold! But conditions up on the ridge with deep snow and the low winter sunlight, were absolutely out of this world!

winter traverse
An extended traverse in good winter conditions starting from Beinn Bheag and ending on the Pap of Glencoe to take in the full length of the ridge on the north side of Glencoe. A long day but well worth it.

Route: Traverse east to west
Great final day of scrambling in Scotland. Will have to come back some time for more I think. Great weather made the traverse nice and simple in terms of technicality - need to come back in the winter

Winter 1990
Our first day in Glencoe on a week's stay. With Colin and Ken leading and me groaning along behind, very unfit. (later they said they thought I was having a heart attack) After gaining the ridge at the eastern end of Glencoe we traversed along to the Glachaig gulley end, taking a short abseil in the middle to avoid reversing an iced-over downclimb. Views were not too good as it was very cloudy.
Two stayed in the pub as "the weather is shite!"
Two of us went for it and had everything from a white out and snow to blazing sunshine.
Undoubtedly my best British winter day.
A beautiful almost cloudless day. Superb route starting with the chancelor and then the Aonach Eagach proper. A lot of fun, even the descent to the pub! Well it has to be descended at least once this way.
Route Climbed: Sgor nam Fiannaide (Summit) Date Climbed: 28th December 2002
Without time to do a full traverse of the ridge we resolved to just make do with an ascent of Sgor nam Fiannaide from glen coe. An easy scramble up rocs and scree to give breathtaking views over the glen. Next time up the ridge is gonna go proper!
