Have been here many times. Went up this day with friends from WI to see the Howe Ridge Fire. The fire had recently been quenched with some recent rain and cold nights so there wasn't much to see. Got a quick screen shot from the webcam for prosperity :)

Come for the scenery, stay because you don't have the skill to ski breakable crust through shrubs.

Nice warm up hike
I usually hike it at the start of every hiking season, just to get going. Nothing super special, it's kinda nice without all the trees in the way from the fire.

Awesome Burn Area
Hiked this after doing the Avalanche Lake hike in Glacier. This area burned recently and the views of the Flathead and Swan Ranges were incredible.

my first hike in GNP!
To Lookout & then uphill through the shrubby growth & deadfall left from the fire. If the whole ridge is like that it would be an unpleasant ridge run. I went until it leveled out - but couldn't tell if I was on the true 'summit'. It was late afternoon & I heard a cold beer calling me back to campsite.
Climbed with Kelly in the snow right after moving to Montana. The road was closed due to snow, so the hike was considerably longer...and I forgot my snowshoes. Been up multiple times since, great early season hike.

Christmas Eve 2010
Went up on snowshoes Christmas Eve with my brother. It was foggy when we started in the morning, but by noon when we reached the top, the fog had lifted and there was not a cloud in the sky. Best Christmas ever.

After 6 PM dinnerI did this as an after dinner hike one summer when I worked at Lake McDonald. Great views, but I don't personally count this as a true summit.
