approaching Piegan Pass

Piegan Pass is a popular day hike in Glacier National Park. It is typically started from Siyeh Bend, a few miles east of Logan Pass on Going-to-the-Sun Road, and ascends over the pass en route to a long, scenic decent into the Many Glacier Valley. The trail is 12.9 miles long. The sharp peak in the middle of the photograph belongs to Cataract Mountain (8,180 ft); the high point in the background is the Bishop's Cap (9,127 ft) atop the Garden Wall. August 1, 2008
