Conditions warmer than expected, 70s and sunny. After a nice rest on UWJ, was ready to hit Armstrong. Rugged hike down UWJ and then back up Armstrong. Nice views from the top, more open than the previous two peaks.
Some girl on the summit had the audacity to be wearing the same wicking shirt as my ole lady. The nerve! Met japanese guys speaking french.
The hike from Gothics to Armstrong was fairly easy and short. This was a good thing since we still had the Wolfjaws as our next destinations.
Combined this early season hike with UWJ and Gothics. Still had deep snow below summits, but weather was perfect (low 60's and sunny). In fact snowpack left only 5-7 feet of the 20 foot ladder on the moutains east side visable.
Nice view west from the small summit ledge. This mountain is steep when approached from the east (Upper Wolf Jaw).
Ladders were out at the start up, so it was added fun. Cloudy with scattered showers, lots of mud coming over from Wolf Jaw.
I did this with Jonathan Stanley along with Gothics, Pyramid and Upper and Lower Wolfs Jaw on a long traverse. Beautiful day as I remember. William
