What do you do before a Hearts/Hibs derby? Take a walk in the park.  Sucess!

What a nice jaunt up a great hill in Edinburgh. The summit offers amazing 360 degree views of Edinburgh.
I did this hike prior to attending the Hearts vs. Hibs derby at Tyncastle Stadium. All & all it was a superb day - despite the fact that Hearts lost:( -. After the match, it was back home to Glasgow.

Bonnie Scotland  Sucess!

A late day break in the weather meant a quick hike up with some great afternoon light. I'm glad I checked SP to see if there were any interesting hills around Edinburgh!

Since there wasn't much vertical I handicapped myself with a belly full of deep fried haggis and even a deep fried candy bar. Oh, and the beer. What a good day!

Amazingly close to the city  Sucess!

Walked from the Royal Mile right to the top of Arthur's Seat. It's a pretty quick hike, and the views of Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth are excellent. Definitely a fun break from the busy city. Pictures (including a 360 degree summit panorama) are available from http://picasaweb.google.com/bruckie/LondonArthurSSeat.

in the world. Comparable to Forest Park in Portland, OR. probably in the top three of most climbed summits in my life.

a grand miniature

Ticked this one off my list on a beautiful day, a good 31st birthday. At least it was a good day until the wife decided she wanted to take a "quick" route down to the west which turned out to be rather more of a scramble than she had bargained for!

Great view: well worth the walk if you visit Edinburgh.

You lucky....  Sucess!

Wow, can't believe there's actually a page on this! Did this many moons ago, a great thing to have so near a major city. Shame the south east of the UK is so flat.... *sigh*

Arthur's Seat! I hiked this as a 17-year-old when my family took a 3-week tour of England and Scotland. I hiked it in my brand-new, white tennis shoes that could be seen hundreds of meters away. All the natives were staring at them. Edinburgh is a wonderful place.

A great little hike with a expansive view of the area. Very windy on top.
