North route

It is a pretty straightforward climb, but unfortunately bad weather turned us back. We also had no success in finding any locals who knew where the Santa Catalina research station was. It might be better to go to Chillogallo and catch a bus up to San Juan and start from there.

Route Climbed: East Route.  Sucess!

Early hike from Panamericana Sur with my brother Andres, Paola and Andrea. The weather was nice as well as the time we spent during the hike and on the summit.

We headed down by the north side of the mountain. It was the 2nd time Andrea and I summited together.

. Andrea Ruiz (Sep/79 - Mar/07).

Route Climbed: East Route.  Sucess!

After an easy hike through some private farmlands, my two brothers (Alex and Andres) and me made it to the top.

Nice weather with a bit of wind on top of the mountain. The view from up there is amazing, not as the summit itself which is filled by antennas, cables and high voltage shacks.

Ha! I second Glen on that one. We did a fun little hike to the top, with was covered by a little shack with the message "Peligroso". There was a man with a large gun in one of the shacks. Very interesting, but he paid us no mind.

The decent was a fun time, and very beautiful though long!

Route Climbed: Norte  Sucess!

6 kilometers back to the Panamericana my ass. We were descending to the east for 4 hours after dropping off the ridge before hitching a lift back to the highway.
