Pacific Tarn

Nice photo. The lake happens to be Pacific Tarn which has the distinction of being the highest altitude lake in North America (13,400'). What time of year was this taken? I wouldn't think the tarn was liquid much of the year.

Re: Pacific Tarn

Thanks! It was taken on July 7th this year. There was still quite a large chunk of ice (60% or so) on the lake, but it was quite cold! (I broke my water bottle on the ridge, and needed to find and purify several times that day...)

I'm surprised that a lake with such distinction isn't named on any topo maps, especially since some smaller lakes in the cirque immediately to the north are (Mohawk lakes). Well, who am I to second guess...

Thanks again!
