Best of the Grandfather Peaks  Sucess!

In a lifetime of exploring the NC mountains, I had never made it over to Grandfather. The whole ridge is wonderful, but the Attic Window section is the most aesthetic of all (and less crowded than the rest). Came up via Profile, tagged Calloway, and traversed the ridge. A beautiful fall day above the clouds.

Attic Window  Sucess!

Hiked up Profile Trail and camped up on the ridge. The next morning we up to Calloway Peak, then out to Attic Window and MacRae Peak before heading back down Profile Trail. Beautiful views. The scrambling was great around Attic Window, and there are several small caves we explored.

The Trifecta!  Sucess!

Climbed Attic Window as part of a traverse of Grandfather Mountain. Went up the Profile Trail and hit Calloway first and then Attic Window and MacRae. A beautiful hike on a very rugged trail. Highly recommended!

From MaCrae Peak  Sucess!

I didn't realize I was actually climbing another mountain while on the way to Calloway Peak. But there was the sign and a nice rocky viewpoint to boot.

Via Grandfather Crest Trail  Sucess!

What an exciting surprise! We loved the ladders, the cables, the scrambling in The Chute...all of it. The views were fantastic, the weather crisp, sunny and warm. What a fantastic day along the crest of Grandfather Mountain! Partner: Husband Tom.
