After getting to the trailhead at midnight, we made high camp at 7,500 feet and woke to blue skies, light winds, and a big nasty lenticular cloud hanging over the mountain. Everyone coming down said they failed to summit with 50+ mph winds, and the forecast was looking worse. In less than 24 hours we'd have 90 mph winds, temps in the 20s, a foot of rime ice, and a day hiker to Camp Muir will die missing this trial we're on right now. Keep in mind this is August.
