After driving from PA’s high point, we made the summit after a short climb. There was not much of a view on top, but the pick nick table was great to sit on. After signing the registry and taking a few pic’s we walked back down.
We hiked up the lush trail in high heat and high humidity.

Standard Trail
Erin and I hiked up Backbone in the rain yesterday. No views to speak of, but we had fun scrambling on the slippery rocks near the state boundary marker. Then we drove on to bag the PA highpoint.

climbed normal route from West Virginia
This was my 2nd of 3 state highpoints in one day and my eighth state highpoint overall. Great weather for early spring!
Route Climbed: Standard route Date Climbed: September 1, 2002
Highpoint #12. Headed out before dawn while the family slept at the hotel. Very foggy; surprised to find people camped at the summit. You gotta love any state that has a town called "Accident."
Route Climbed: Normal Trail to the summit Date Climbed: November 16, 2003
My wife and I climbed this mt. to the occassional rifle shot going off in the mountains around us. It's hunting season so wear bright colors. This was my 5th HP and my wife's 4th. The trail is fairly easy to follow, but at one intersection a few four wheeler trails all come together and it isn't marked well to see which to take. Other than that, a nice day with a little bit of a view since there were no leaves on the trees.
