HP #7  Sucess!

A fun hike off the beaten path and had the top to ourselves to watch some rain clouds roll in. Made for a great experience on a great high point!

#37  Sucess!

Another one where I could not find the benchmark.

The day had gotten sunnier by this point and the hike was short and fun. I did not see a soul on the trail. Loved the views from on top. Nicely developed area at the highpoint.

On my way from Mt. Davis, on way to Spruce Knob...

# 28  Sucess!

Did the semi-illegal way by driving up to the crest, parked, and hiked about .2 miles to the top. Nice views. Drive through WV was very nice afterwards. Definitely take the time to check out the church near the TH.

Snow on ground  Sucess!

Freak snowstorm came in the previous day, so the dirt road from 219 was surprisingly muddy and had a couple big ditches. Walked from 219 to summit, 4.1 km total.

Number 2 On The Day  Sucess!

Hiked up from the West Virginia side of the Mountain after driving up from Spruce Knob in Virginia. High point number two on the day with Dad. Spent a while on the top looking for the USGS marker. Dad even looked it up on his geocaching website to no avail. Decided we couldn't search for too long as we were headed north to Pennsylvania and wanted to beat the sun.

HP No. 17  Sucess!

Made this one as No. 2 of 3 (West Virginia, Pennsylvania). Summited with my wife (No. 10) who hiked into Maryland as her first time in the state. Steep trail and some mud. Nice views into Maryland from the ridge.

First HP!  Sucess!

Stopped here on the way to our family vacation in WV. It was a great hike to stretch the legs.
Getting to the trailhead was very easy. We followed our GPS, and there was a sign redirecting us off of the private property to the actual trailhead.

State High Point # 28  Sucess!

Hiked up this one with 2 of my daughters. It was quite a hike for them as the trail rises about 1000' from the TH. We enjoyed resting at the picnic table up at the top. Beautiful views looking North from just before the HP. We camped at Blackwater Falls and enjoyed travelling around the area. Stopped at Swallowtail Falls SP also.

HP # 37  Sucess!

Nice little hike and a well marked trail. Watched rain coming in across the mountains until it hit us as we headed down. That and I almost stepped on the highest snake in Maryland...

Good job Highpointers Club  Sucess!

The one thing that sticks out about Maryland's HP was that the Highpointers Club really kept up the summit area. There was a couple benches under the trees, a great HP sign, and a nice mailbox with summit register and other stuff inside. Did i miss a survey marker? We looked but couldn't find anywhere. State HP #17!!

Three Generations  Sucess!

Hiked it with my 65 year old dad (cancer survivor) and 5 year old son. My dad has lived in MD for about 40 years, so while visiting for a couple of weeks, I thought it time he bag his home state's highpoint. It was a cold, windy day, with a few flurries...Hard to believe it's late May. Also visited nearby Fairfax Stone, Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls, and Swallow Falls State Park--all of them worth a visit. The downed trees at the latter due to Hurricane Sandy was astounding.

HP #2  Sucess!

I climbed this one on the same day as Davis with some friends who were not avid hikers. They found it a bit difficult, but all in all, it's not bad. The sitting area at the top was nice and well taken care of.

HP #6  Sucess!

Couldn't have asked for a better day to summit. Nothing but blue skies and the ground was covered in a blanket of snow that the sky had so graciously bestowed upon the land just prior to my arrival. Over 20 inches in places,it seemed, and it certainly made a perceptively simple and easy hike up into a tiring affair. Placed a rock atop the cairn and enjoyed the great views of MD to the East and West "By God" to the West from the summit apex. Got a certificate to prove that I was there; that I was, for the moment, standing higher that anyone else in MD.

Tenth HP on a 3 week road trip thru 17 states. Navigation back to the car after sunset required care. Good and cold.

Total White Out  Sucess!

Very nice short hike. It would have been better if it wasn't rainy and foggy. It was a great day when I headed for the mountain. This is #6. I did WVA the same day. Total White out there also.
