Two days on Baker
Drove to Heliotrope Trailhead after work on Friday. Latest start ever for us, 7:30 we were beginning our hike. Hogsback camp at 9:30PM, barely set up tent in remaining light ending with headlamps. Up at 2 and geared up by 3AM, a few others starting too. Snow was really firm, crampons perfect. Marched right up for two oldies, summit at 10:30. Windy and cold, but very clear skies. The usual Washington summits visable, Rainier, Olympics, Cascades at their best. Amazing place. No crowds today, maybe 10 climbers on the summit, met a few coming up as we exited. Plenty of weekenders setting up camp for a questionable sunday climb...weather was moving in. Love this place.
