Did this one as part of a "3fer" with the Bowser Buttes and Point 5003.
Redwic, Colleen, Robbin and I went to the top of Point 5721 "South Bowser Butte" by mistaken route-finding. We didn't care to finish Bald Eagle Mountain that day considering it was roughly 40 feet lower than where we ended up. This is a case where named high-points are not necessarily worth visiting.
The northwest had gone 75-80 days without any measurable rainfall. The dry conditions were bad for the terrain (i.e. wildfires) but great for hikers. With the weather finally shifting back to rain the following day, I used the last great weather day to complete a summit trip that I had failed on last year due to too much snow and concerns of timing-out.
The north-central Washington Cascades have great areas for which to see and enjoy brilliant Autumn colors. Bald Eagle Mountain is no exception.
