I thought this was the Bald Mountain on US Gov land of NV 375 near Rachel. I wonder if anyone is ever going to be able to climb and make a SP page for that mountain.
As of 11/17/2012, there are Forest Service signs on most of the dirt roads in this area. There was even a small sign off Highway 338 that reads "Nye Cyn". The dirt road is still well graded initially and marked as road 42031. To continue up the canyon you switch to road 22510 about half way in. From the intersection of Highway 829 (South of Wellington, NV) and Highway 338 it's 12.8 miles South to the Nye Canyon road.
