Re: Nice post

Thanks Sarah! I thought it might be time to post something new and we obviously needed more bald mountains on SP! :)

Re: Nice post

Fact - there's another "Bald Mountain" located SE of Deseret Peak
in the Stansbury Mountains, but it was "burned over" by a devastating wildfire in June 2008.

Guess it's TRULY a bald mountain now. Sorry to say ..

Re: Nice post

The Bald Mountain, 9,203 feet, near Deseret Peak deserves a page. There is a trail that goes near its summit. If you do it as a loop you can hike to Little Bald Mountain and Box Elder Pass. Yep, another place named Box Elder! There are other Bald Mountains. They are in the Deep Creek Range, Wasatch Plateau, and near Ephraim.

Re: Nice post

In 2010 I didn't see much evidence of any fire. Great peak. http://www.willhiteweb.com/stansbury_mountains/box_elder_canyon/loop_041.htm

Re: Nice post

Right on, Eric. I think the fire was further to the north, but
could be seen clearly by the good folks of Grantsville.

I plan to visit northern UT (again) in 2013. Great page.

Great autumn colors

I love the colors. When I hiked it at the end of July, the colors were all green and browns. This was a nice hike close to SLC.

Re: Great autumn colors

Thank you Dean! I thought I better hike to it before the road closed for the season. It was nice to have the fall colors there too.
