Brushy Sky High then Bally  Sucess!

Following a 5:45 round trip up Brushy Sky High (which thanks to a few other climbers has a good trail at the moment) my brother and I had enough time left over to pay a visit to Bally Peak. We thought it would be incredibly easy, so as is usually the case when you let your mind think this way, we went a bit fast, got pretty tired, and despite having a easy trail to follow wound up sort of slogging up the last half mile or so. Not much in the way of summit views. RT was about 1 1/2 hours, and parking is a breeze if you park by the large paved Call Box area on the opposite side of the highway from the starting location which itself is a bit of a challenge to find. TR is HERE

grassy trail to summit  Sucess!

Followed the jeep road which deteriorated into a grassy path, About 100' or so past the notch beneath the summit there is a use trail heading up to the right that gets you into the grassy oaklands pn the south side of the slope, and easily to the summit.

A large herd of elk was grazing in the hillside and galloped of uphillf when I approached.

From SR20  Sucess!

A surprisingly easy way to get through what is often a very brushy area. Trip Report.

Off under a bad sign  Sucess!

The trail sign points to the left and even though I could see the trail to the right I took the sign at face value and went a hunnerd or so yards to the left and started up a sketchy use trail. It was anybodies guess at that point with use trails going every which way! At one point I could see the peak and managed to scramble up the steep muddy class 2 east slope to the top after losing chunks of time and energy in the process on some useless recon. Took the trail back at half the time.
