Bancroft summit on a...

Bancroft summit on a beautiful spring day. Parry Peak, the highest summit on this part of the divide, is visible in the background. We had a little time for a snack while we waited for the snow to reach the perfect corn consistency. 6-20-99

I see ski's but....

was there enough snow to ski on? The summit sure looks like it could use some. ; )

Yeah that's the story of skiing in Colorado. You have to search out the patches in the spring and as the spring wears on the snow is found in steeper and steeper spots usually. I miss the days of skiing in the Cascades where you could just look at a map to pick your ski trip based on what looked like good slope angles. Here you have to know where the snow is. In this case, about 20 feet below the summit we had a fine snowfield that had continuous snow all the way down to the cars!
