Jeff, I lived up there for 6 years and am homesick I left, but my wife put up with training horses for 6 Canadian winters without saying a word. I owed it to her to find a place better for the winter. Now that I am settled, Southern Utah is pretty damn good. Was out doing a 5.9, IV climb yesterday, and was appreciating the desert pack on the long hike out on my old broken back vs an alpine pack. So there are benefits. If I were younger, no question, I would do everything in my power to raise a family in Canmore. Finest place in the world to raise kids and enjoy life. Look forward to hooking up on one of your trips west. Cheers.
