Even if you don't go all the way to the summit, the hike to Panhandle Gap is a marvel in itself. But who can resist ambling up the gentle slopes to the striking summit overlooking the Sarvent Glacier? I had a handful of the best salmonberries I have ever eaten on the way down.
This is almost like Colorado scrambling. Hike through fields of grass and lupine. Hardest part is hike to Panhandle Gap, which is usually snowy until at least August.
Great summit with incredible views of Rainier. Tons of mountain goats.
Didn't see much but been to the area before several times so didn't miss much.
Panhandle Gap is nice but the views from the summit are even better.
