Great place to go, I love the Watrous Gulch area. It was 4th of July weekend, 2004 and we were the only people back there camping. Unbelievable! Another Bi-Centennial to mark off.

The weather was beautiful, which was a good thing. I wrongly assumed there would not be too much snow due to the route facing south. I was sadly mistaken.

Once I reached the flat shoulder at 11,900 and traversed the rock field, the fun began! I climbed though areas of snow that were close to 3 feet deep in spots! The summit was covered totally in snow, and I had a hard time determining if I actually was there until I found the survey marker. There was no summit cairn or summit log (that I could find, that is).

My time up was close to five hours - two more than I anticipated, although the weather was great and the temperatures were moderate. It took me about three hours to get back down.

A nice climb, although my legs really felt it the next day. My face got a little red too from all of the reflective sun from the snowfield. All in all, a good trip with lots of great view of surrounding peaks.

For 'only' a five mile climb I was impressed; a much harder day than I had planned. The route finding added a nice change. I didn't see anyone from the time I left the truck till I returned 5 hours later. The 360 view from the top is great. This route was harder than many 14ers. A compass and map should be taken.

A great summit considering its easy access and close proximity to Denver. Watrous Gulch is a great alternative to the extremely crowded Herman Gulch

A nice summit for being so close to noisy smelly I-70. Climbed with my dog Sopris.

I read the mileage from the Bakerville trail head and thought we were in for a shorter day. Since we had hiked 9 miles the day before, it was a long day for Bard Peak. We were using the hike for a training hike for Long's Peak. Nice hike - I think if I did it again - I would opt for the shorter steeper trail from Bakerville.

Excellent day, and fun route finding through the trees. It was a tough hike though. I felt it in my legs the next day when I did Square Top.
