South Ridge
Climbed Baron as one of 9 summits during an amazing 4-day backpacking trip in the Sawtooths. Camped the night before at the lakes to the southeast, then up the south face until the ridge. Dropped our big packs and made the final scramble up the class III south ridge. Fantastic views. Trip Report

Nice Peak
Day hiked this from Lake 8271 just south of Sawtooth lake. Got to the Baron/Moolack saddle from its east side. Did Moolack and then Baron. Great views from the top.

Tough day
Josh and I hiked in from Grandjean. Got hung up in some of the thick underbrush around the lower part of Moolack Creek, before breaking free at the fork. We hit the W ridge at about 9400' and climbed up from there. Amazing views in all directions! Quite the memorable climb, but very exhausting. It ended up being a really hot day in the mountains.
Jerrod and I climbed this on a Sunday. Great weather but a little too sunny and dry. We sucked our water dry within the first few hours. Try to stay close to the river with a filter in hand if you plan to summit. Wild raspberry bushes grow everywhere along the upper Moolack basin. Nothing ripe yet but maybe late August will give better yields. Quite a fun chimney scramble up to the summit. The scenery is quite amazing with clear views of Williams, Mickey's Spire, Warbonnet, Tohobit, Alpine, and others. Castle Peak looming in the east...
Third time was the charm for this one. First attempt in 2000, ended up just walking to the Baron Lakes which was pretty neat itself, second in 2003, ended up getting cliffed near point 8962. Great day, long hike. Really took it out of me, but the views are worth it.

Summer in May
Summited in beautiful weather. Like July conditions in may. Climbed with Matt M. & Greg P. Snow was wet but fairly consolidated (except for a few painful sections). Actually forgot to sign the summit register, but it was great - names back as early as 1927. Great scramble at the top! We chose a line up the west face of the tower.
