BATURA GLACIER TREK

Batura Glacier, Karakoram, Pakistan
The Batura Glacier is fourth longest glacier in the world. The total area of Batura Glacier is 290 Square Kilometers and 58 kilometer in length. The Batura trek is strenuous and taking about 8 to 12 days. The trek starts from the Pasu (254m) and ends at Gutshem.

The road journey can be done from Islamabad to Pasu by public transport bus/wagon or private car van, bus or jeeps. One can also reach to Pasu from China too via Khunjerab Pass. From Pasu the path heads west, then north passing Darwaz and Yuriz and the morain of the Batura Glacier to reach Zagakpert. The trek continues to Put Maha (3336m) and Kuldul. The next camp is Gutshem from where spectacular views can be seen of the surrounding peaks. The return journey is on same route.

The best trekking season is June to September each year.


Getting There
