Took about eighty minutes to the summit from the roundabout just west of the Bear Mountain Bridge. I liked the trail. More exposed bedrock slab than I was expecting.

AT Stop
Climbed Bear Mountain twice as part of the Adirondack Trail. Lots of people on top and an interesting stone tower.

Great Hike
Hiked with my daughter and her friends. We went up the Major Welch Trail and came down the southbound AT, 1777, and Yellow trails. After that we stayed a while for the Oktoberfest - bratwurst with sauerkraut and beer!
I'm not sure what date I climbed this, but it was part of my AT section hiking.

Fun Hike
Not way too many people on trail and I didn't mind the people at the top. If your looking for solitude, this is not the place to go. If your looking for a nice hike and don't mind seeing other people outdoors, this was a good day. Great views.

Car show
Lovely hike, though parking is a rip-off and I wasn't a big fan of the car/bike show at the top. Way too crowded, and seriously I don't need to hear revving engines constantly. Went to the area with the rescued animals afterward, which was very interesting.

nice saturday, but crowded
It was a nice day, so I went to Bear Mountain after working all night. I liked the mountain in the fall scenery, but man it was too crowded on the summit, and the park. Total rip-off to park there. I would never go again there on a weekend during the fall, summer, or spring. Go there in the winter on a weekday.

NYC Dayhike
Perfect day hike ex-New York City. Hiked in the snow and only saw four other people on the trail. Perfect weather and visibility.
Backpacked on AT over this and ran out of water with our group going through here during a blazing hot July. Don't remember much except this and the crowds!
Going over and descending Bear Mountain is usually the highlight of any run on the Harriman/Bear Mountain trails. Excellent trails with fewer crowds during the winter.

Pretty nice hikeShort with some decent views. There are other trails that are more fun in the area with nicer views but, all in all, Bear Mountain is a good trip.

Fun lil hikeThe trail up was a good hike. Crowded at the summit. The AT down was probably the best maintained trail I've ever seen. Def want to go back.

Good hike/runI like running the AT, however the other trail has better opportunity for a little scramble.
