The top of the last major hump above timberline, beaten track leads across the talus slope (mid photo) and then the last summit block. Still aways to go at this point. Approximately at the 7400 foot level

Distance can be

very deceptive in this range of mountains.
Who maintains the trails on Hawk Mountain,
or is that even a trail? Do you see a lot
of Bighorn sheep on Hawk Mountain??

they are very deceptive - you keep thinking you are there. Nobody maintains the track but somebody has flagged and caired the route. Lots of Bighorns but unfortunately that day they were all hanging out along the road enjoying the tourists.

being doing local trips but the weather here is awful. In 10 days I'm off to the Alps and sure hope I'll have some photos then. Wish we had some of your desert warmth!!!
