Tried the arete, but it was far scarier than expected. Quite an easy walk up via the standard route. Enjoyed the trip.
Was supposed to go up via the Carn Mor Dearg Arête, but was denied by bad weather. Hiked up via the Pony Track with with Alan and Dave.
Rain at the bottom, but clear at the top.
Attempted to scale the Ben via CMD Arete first but failed high on Carn Mor Dearg thanks to treacherous snow fields and zero visibility. A plod up the Mountain Track set the record straight but at a cost: My total ascent on this day added up to 2450 meters. That's if I had climbed the Ben two times back to back. It sure felt like it.
Had a great time, this was the first time up Ben, a few years later a few friends and I did a summer day hike up. Always a great time in Ft William.
Weather came in on the ridge spoiling the summit views. My 1st Scottish summit.
Long time ago... Started from the Caledonian Canal at Banavie via Allt A Mhulinn and then on to the main drag. Next time, camped in Glen Nevis. Up early and down in time for a 10am train to Mallaig.
Until we made it to the ice covered, wind blown refuge at the top.
Climbed up the tourist route from Glen Nevis. Very busy path@
well this was the last challenge i had to do . The west highland way i already end the day before. it was exciting... for me it was one of the things i just had to do, otherwise the trip was not a succes . And i did it !
but one my way back i get really sick i made it back down but the rest of the evening was a constant run to make it on time in the toilett . But it was worth it !
From the very start, it was a most unpromising day. But I had flown in from Spain to climb Ben Nevis, and finally reached the summit starting from the Glen Nevis visitor center with my friend Juan. We used the Mountain Path up to Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe, but after that we entered the Allt a'Mhuilinn valley to reach the CIC hut and the CMD arête from Coire Leis. This last section is not really advisable, but we chose it when strong winds kept us back from the CMD... and we just didn't feel in the mood to turn back and re-join the Mountain Path.
In the end, summit without any sights and lots of clothing to dry
not quite as warm as your home Pyrenees I bet.
We're not going to Benasque this year but up to the Highlands again probably to do Suilven and Ben More and maybe back to An Teallach.
Fun climb via Tower Ridge
Beautiful day, nice hike, gorgeous waterfall, snow covered peak... What more could you ask for!
With the wife, nice hike.
Ascended twice in two days in winter conditions. Two cracking routes..did full traverse descending to the half way Lochan. Good nav skills required for both decents.
I was the only one on the summit at sunset (10pm-ish) with an amazing cloud inversion. Was hallucinating on descent (long story!) and the weather began to turn rather nasty where my eye lashes began to freeze. One to remember!
during the trip of Scotland, West Higland Way and Grampian:))))nice
Took the Mountaineer's Route and climbed Nevis in prefect weather. A little wind, cloudless skies. One of my all time favorites.
On the first day of a week long expedition backpacking around the highlands carrying all the kit and food for a week. Not sure it was the right choice for the first day! Incredible weather for Scotland, didn't see a cloud all day, indeed, all week! The sunburn sticks in my memory.
