Bench on the summit of Lauberhorn

Bench on the summit of Lauberhorn

Bench on the summit of Lauberhorn (2472m). The highest point in the background is Schwarzhorn (2928m). Lauberhorn is an easy walk-up from Kleine Scheidegg and offers great views over the Berner Oberland. For those who think the fence is ugly (see discussion below), have a look at the drop behind it! (and realise that this is an easy hike up from a popular tourist train, so lots of people and children in summer)

Ugly Fence!

What a shame there's an ugly chain link fence and institutional bench in such a place....

Re: Ugly Fence!

Well the bench is a very nice one to sit on for the views on Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau (although it's missing a board here) and the fence is also no luxury, to the left of this there's a HUGE vertical drop. Since this mountain is a very easy and short hike up from Klein Scheidegg, I can imagine there will be lots of tourist climbing it every year with perhaps little children....

But I agree, for artistic value it'd better be removed :-)

Re: thanks

Hey Rafa,

I'll adjust the caption. Thanks for making a page of this mountain. I think this picture explains pretty well why the (ugly) fence is there!
